Charlotte is the largest city in North Carolina, and the 18th most populated city in the United States. Charlotte is currently the second largest banking center in the U.S after New York City, and serves as home base for Bank of America, the nation’s largest financial institution. Additionally, Charlotte is home to several notable educational institutions including Johnson & Wales University and University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Throughout the last decade, the Charlotte Center city (also referred to as Uptown) has grown dramatically. This area features a heavily concentrated assortment of museums, sporting venues, hotels, restaurants, and bars. This recent development boom includes a large amount of residential real estate including skyscrapers, with more than 20 skyscrapers either recently completed or under construction.
